Your challenge!

Reporting to the Production Manager, the Production Supervisor’s mission is to achieve the operational efficiency objectives associated with his or her unit's business strategy by optimizing available resources, rigorously applying business processes and establishing an effective communication system.

You ensure the optimal management of occupational health and safety, target production sequence and product compliance with quality standards. You closely monitor operating parameters and, if necessary, develop an action plan to close performance gaps or resolve anomalies. You also build a mobilized and competent team and support their production efforts while nurturing a culture of continuous improvement. As a result, you contribute to the achievement of your unit's manufacturing objectives by positively influencing the adoption of healthy and safe behaviours, operating costs, performance, and production capacity and quality.

Role & Responsibilities

Accountable for the following:
• Meeting production standards
• Engaging and develop all your employees
• Ensuring compliance with business processes and ONE Certification standards
• Ensuring quality targets are met
• Managing non-standard products
• Ensuring the accuracy of operation parameters and provide MRP values

Responsible for the following:
• Carrying out workforce planning and ensure approval of hours worked
• Ensuring training coordination (upon hiring and on an ongoing basis)
• Ensuring constant communication with employees (floor rounds, logbooks, etc.)
• Coordinating follow-up meetings to ensure targets are met and employees are held accountable
• Carrying out monthly OHS audits as well as accident investigations and analyses
• Monitoring OHS improvements and adjustments
• Addressing target shortfalls (KPIs) and coordinate applicable action plans
• Planning and coordinating continuous improvement activities
• Supporting teams in problem solving
• Supporting your scheduler in establishing the optimal sequence for product production within the time frame established on the basis of business rules
• Ensuring the management of transactions in the computerized operations management system in accordance with business rules
• Confirming and resolving anomalies in the computerized operations management system

Ideal Candidate Experience & Strengths include:

• Extensive experience in supervision and the manufacturing sector (required)
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing (an asset)
• Leadership and a collaborative spirit that inspire and engage teams to achieve excellence
• Ability to solve problems and prioritize daily tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Strong listening skills to quickly understand needs and issues
• Ability to act and react quickly while working on a number of files at the same time
• Leadership to cultivate a culture of OHS accountability
• Sound judgment and the courage to make the necessary decisions
• Proficiency in written and spoken English, basic knowledge of French an asset
• Agility needed to work with various technological tools
• Knowledge of SAP software or other ERP (an asset)
