Full job description
Area of Assignment: Acute Care
Basic Function and Scope:
As a member of a multidisciplinary team, the Personal Support Worker (PSW) works under the direction of the Unit Coordinator/Manager and in conjunction with the RN/RPN, performing assigned functions that support the team in the delivery of patient care.
Hours of Work: Schedule rotation will include all shifts and weekends.
Pay Rate: Will be in accordance with the S.E.I.U. Local 1, Canada Service Workers Collective Agreement for Personal Support Worker Classification.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Secondary School Graduation Diploma;
- Personal Support Worker Certificate from a recognized College;
- B.C.L.S. Current Certificate.
Experience:
- Experience working with resident/patients with complex physical needs.
Required Skills:
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing education;
- Demonstrates a positive attitude;
- Ability to function in crisis situations;
- Demonstrated awareness of patient centered care with the ability to work in a team environment;
- Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, courteously and tactfully;
- Maintains friendly, caring and responsive attitude toward patient care;
- Must have annual review education completed;
- Must have previous proven good performance and attendance record.
Physical Requirements:
The applicant must be able to meet the physical demands of this position.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: $27.98-$29.58 per hour
