Supply / On-Call Educators to fill planned (i.e. vacation) and unplanned (i.e. sick) absences of employees. Supply educators will be responsible for assisting to supervise children from infant to preschool age; support in implementing planned and spontaneous play-based experiences to support children's learning, interested and development.
Tasks may include but are not limited to supporting children to supervising children both inside classroom, during transitions and outdoors; encouraging/supporting children to learn problem solving and self-regulation skills; conflict resolution to support children in communicating their needs, feelings or concerns; support children to dress and undress for outdoor play; support children with diapering/potty-training; complete routine cleaning and disinfecting practices; maintain daily communication and paper requirements (i.e. child attendance, daily communication notes.) Supply educators will work together with team and independently with small groups at times.
Perform opening and closing duties, as necessary, depending on shifts. Communicate openly and honestly with supervisors, fellow educators, families, and children.
Screening and Certifications
- Clear "Police Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening" current within 6 months from date of hire.
- Valid certificate in First Aid and CPR level C
- Health assessment and up-to-date immunizations as directed by Public Health.
Education:
Early Childhood Education diploma/degree, and Registered with the College of ECE is preferred.
Other Diplomas involving experience with children (i.e., Developmental Services Worker; Child and Youth Care Worker; Social Services Worker) will be considered.
Experience may be considered in lieu of education: Minimum 2 years experience with children preferred.
Knowledge of self-regulation; play-based programming; child care licensing regulations; and/or "How Does Learning Happen" would be an asset.
Availability:
- Must be eligible to work in Canada
- Must have reasonable availability between the hours of: Monday to Friday 7:30am to 6:00pm, year round.
(shifts for supply and on-call may be minimum of 3 hours up to 8 hours. Number of hours will fluctuate as hours are based on the centre needs to fill vacancies.

Wages: $18.65/hourly (inclusive of pay equity, provincial/municipal governmental grants, and wage enhancement)
