Bay of Quinte Entrepreneurs: House of Bread Bakery

One of Quinte West’s favourite bakeries, House of Bread Bakery, has a new location to call home, at 2223 Hamilton Road, Units 21 & 22. House of Bread Bakery is an artisan, small-batch sourdough bakery specializing in handcrafted breads and baked goods, including classic sourdough, whole-wheat sourdough, focaccia, cheese bread, and various desserts.

A smiling woman in a red dress stands behind a counter with three brown paper-wrapped sandwiches in a spacious, modern kitchen—capturing the spirit of Bay of Quinte entrepreneurs who infuse passion and creativity into every detail.

Owner Sadera Jordan, a military spouse and proud mother to three girls, moved to Quinte West from Cold Lake, Alberta, four years ago with her family. Sadera started House of Bread in 2023, operating out of her home kitchen and selling her products at the Front Street Farmers Market in Quinte West. Sadera quickly gained a loyal customer base, even being named Best Food Pop-Up vendor in Quinte West in the Bay of Quinte Best of the Bay campaign

Since becoming a Quinte West resident and business owner, Sadera has found a welcoming community in the Bay of Quinte. “The community is a great fit for House of Bread Bakery because there is strong support for local, small businesses and a growing interest in fresh, locally made food,” Sadera explained. “The bakery allows customers to purchase high-quality artisan bread while supporting a local business and contributing to the community.”

While Sadera has been successful, starting a small business hasn’t been without its hurdles. “The biggest challenge has been growing from a small home-based bakery into a dedicated commercial space while managing increased demand and production,” Sadera told us. “I have overcome these challenges by investing in the right equipment, seeking guidance and advice from other professionals and learning to adapt to the changes of running a bakery in a dedicated space and not from a home.”

Sadera celebrated the official opening of her brick-and-mortar location surrounded by friends and family with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 24, 2026, with special guests from the City of Quinte West and the Quinte West Chamber of Commerce, as well as local dignitaries, including MP Chris Mallette and a representative from MPP Tyler Allsopp’s office. And even though the new bakery has just opened, Sadera has even bigger plans for House of Bread Bakery and how she can give back to the local community.

“In the near future, House of Bread Bakery will focus on establishing our new bakery space, growing our weekly production, and creating a consistent schedule for fresh-baked goods for customers,” Sadera said.

“I hope to continue participating in local farmers’ markets and community events, introduce seasonal products, and eventually offer hands-on baking workshops. As the business grows, I would also love to build a team and create employment opportunities for people who may need a second chance in life. My own journey has taught me that everyone deserves an opportunity to start again, and baking gave me that chance. I hope to create a bakery that not only serves the community through great food, but also provides opportunities for others to grow and learn.”

House of Bread is open for walk-ins on Wednesdays and Fridays from 11am – 4pm on a first-come, first-served basis, and they offer pre-orders as well. Be sure to follow them on Facebook and Instagram to stay up-to-date on their hours and pre-order forms.
