SACQD currently has 1 opening for a 1:1 Counsellor. The successful candidates will bring passion for and have in-depth knowledge of sexual violence issues pertaining to all survivors. They will also have extensive knowledge and experience in working from a trauma-informed framework of intersectionality. They will work cooperatively and effectively with the current staff of the Sexual Assault Centre.
Responsibilities:
- Provide trauma-informed, non-judgemental, solution-focused 1:1 counselling to adult survivors of child sexual abuse and sexual assault, and survivors of human trafficking
- Scheduling clients, maintaining your own schedule
- Responsible for intake and maintaining accurate and up-to-date ongoing case notes
- Excellent listening skills and written and oral communication skills
- Compiling and submitting monthly client stats, working in a database
- Participation in all staff meetings
- All other tasks as assigned by SAC management
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree/diploma in Social Services or related field
- SV and/or VAW sector experience
- Strong communication and computer skills in various programs including Excel, Word, Outlook, ZOOM etc.
- AR/AO knowledge & understanding
- Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team
- Valid driver’s Licence and insurance with the use of your own vehicle
- Current Police Records check
- Current CPR & First Aid would be an asset
