Required
• Current Certificate of Registration in good standing, or eligible for registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Minimum of 2 years’ operating room experience, as an RN, in the last 5 years.
• Completed Post Graduate Operating Room Certificate.
• Current certification in BCLS or CPR, or proof of enrolment in a recertification course. You will be asked to provide a copy of your valid certificate at the time of hire/transfer.
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
• Available to work all shifts (days, evenings, weekends) and on call duty.
• Must have demonstrated ability to work independently and have strong organizational skills.
• Must have satisfactory work performance and attendance in present position.
• Capable of coping with a physically demanding workload (Physical Demands Analysis PDA available to review).
• Medical Surveillance is required for personnel routinely working with mechanical equipment and the class of lasers used in the OR. A hearing test and eye exam must be arranged.
Duties
• Utilizes the Nursing Process in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care.
• Provides preoperative teaching to patients & families as required.
• Performs acts requiring specialized knowledge, skills and judgment in assessing health needs and in planning, administering and evaluating patient care in the clinic environment (circulating/scrub/laser nurse roles).
• Responsible to work collaboratively with other members of the health care team who contribute to the provision of patient care.
• Maintains nursing records.
• Participates in QI programs to ensure a high level of patient care.
• Other duties as assigned.
