As a Summer Day Camp Counsellor, you will be instrumental in creating a safe and enjoyable environment for children. Reporting to the Camp Director, your core responsibility will be to engage with campers through various activities while ensuring their well-being. Your experience with children, along with premium skills in tutoring, teaching, and early childhood education, will enhance the camp experience. Additionally, possessing First Aid and CPR certifications will ensure that you are prepared to handle emergencies, making you a vital part of our camp team dedicated to fostering growth and fun.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 2-3 months

24-40 hours weekly

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervising Campers: Ensure the safety and well-being of campers at all times, including during activities, meals, and free time
  • Planning and Leading Activities: Organize and lead various activities such as sports, arts and crafts, hiking, swimming, and team-building exercises
  • Fostering Teamwork and Personal Growth: Encourage campers to work together, build friendships, and develop new skills
  • Ensuring Safety: Follow and enforce safety protocols, administer first aid if necessary, and maintain a clean and hazard-free environment
  • Mentoring and Guiding: Serve as a positive role model, providing guidance and support to campers, and helping them navigate social interactions

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 15 to apply
  • Clean Criminal Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification (must be current)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in emergency situations
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings
  • Must have transportation – public transit is not available
