Position Summary
The incumbent will conduct client intakes and assessments, create employment plans, provide support and case management to clients while monitoring progress.
Roles and Responsibilities
• Collaborate with team to identify job seekers’ attributes/skills, and develop strategies to increase employability and meet client employment goals.
• Conduct comprehensive client intakes and determine needs; refer to appropriate internal or external services.
• Manage a large caseload and support clients as they progress through individualized employment/training plans.
• Identify barriers to employment, and assist clients in resolving those barriers including but not limited to: accessing. training and certifications, gaining experience through job trials/placements, accessing financial supports, reviewing specialized assessments, and/or implementing accommodation plans.
• Share relevant labour market information and assist clients in developing realistic career goals in a one-on-one setting.
• Review job posting information with clients and conduct review of skills and experience required to fulfill vacancies.
• Assist clients in accessing government funded programs and provide input to funders as needed.
• Maintain accurate notes and case documentation.
• Liaise with community agencies, government officials, members of the public and other staff to provide information or guidance on employment related services and/or relevant social service programs.
• Work collaboratively with team to coordinate monitoring of job placements with employers, coaching for job interviews or other employment related events, and employment retention supports.
• Market and promote agency through participation in job fairs, community board involvement and professional and/or business associations.
• Other duties as requested by Program Supervisor.
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
• Completion of a post-secondary education in social services, developmental services, or related.
• Minimum 2 years’ related experience supporting persons with disabilities and/or complex barriers to employment, handling a caseload and supporting, mentoring or counselling individuals.
• Competent understanding of federal, provincial and municipal employment related programs and services, legislation, eligibility and guidelines.
• Familiarity with community services networks and knowledge of Ontario income support programs.
• High level of computer proficiency in MS Office Suite (PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, Excel) and effective research skills.
• Previous experience using databases; experience using CAMS would be considered an asset.
• Client-focused with strong interpersonal skills which motivate and encourage others.
• Effective public speaking, listening and written communication skills with ability to produce grammatically accurate emails, letters and informal communications.
• Able to exercise discretion with personal and confidential information.
• Current and clear criminal record check, including vulnerable sector screening.
• Valid Ontario driver license, up-to-date vehicle insurance and reliable transportation is essential.
• Must be resourceful, organized, and efficient, with well-developed time management skills; attention to detail.
• Works well both independently and collaboratively, as part of a team.
• Ability to multitask and work well in stressful, sometimes crisis, situations; excellent communication skills.
Additional Notes
• Travel outside the office will be necessary.
• May require non-standard working hours (evenings & weekends).
• Must have the ability to work from home as needed.

• 37.5 hours per week M-F 8:00a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
