Position Summary:
As a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) in our Residential Programs, you will play a vital role in delivering compassionate
and effective care to residents who have a combination of physical health and mental health needs. Reporting to the
Program Manager, the RPN is responsible for providing quality care to residents and providing leadership to others as
assigned. Our Residential Programs offer innovative, clinical wrap around care, multi-disciplinary, therapeutic, and
rehabilitative supportive housing for individuals living with mental health and/or addictions issues, potentially with co-occurring medical or physical health needs.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

  • Graduate from a Practical Nursing program
  • Current Certificate of Registration in good standing, or eligible for registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse
  • Three years of nursing experience, mental health or long-term care setting preferred
  • Current First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (FA/CPR) Certification
  • Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) preferred or willingness to certify within 3 months of hiring
  • Current Suicide Intervention training (i.e. Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is an asset
  • Demonstrated knowledge of mental health symptoms, issues, psychotropic medications and associated side effects is an asset
  • Knowledge of issues related to addictions is an asset
  • Ability to work under pressure within a changing environment
  • Working knowledge of the Health Care Consent Act, Mental Health Act, Personal Health Information Protection Act, and other relevant legislation
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Well-developed problem-solving, prioritization and conflict resolution skills
  • Awareness of community resources
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team or independently as required
  • Ability to adjust to working in different social and economic environments
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Basic proficiency in computer skills; MS Office preferred
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and nights
  • Must possess a valid Ontario Driver’s License and have regular access to a reliable vehicle and provide proof of adequate vehicle insurance
  • Required to provide a satisfactory criminal record check (CRC) and Vulnerable Sector prior to hire
