Albert College - Belleville

Albert College in Belleville is seeking a dedicated and experienced Food Service Cook to support the delivery of a high-quality food service program across the Senior School, Junior School, and Early Primary Learning Centre (EPLC). Reporting to the Food Services Manager, the Cook will lead hot and cold food production during designated periods and contribute to meals served in the Ackerman Dining Hall, EPLC, Café, and catered events.

 

Qualifications:

  • Two years of cooking experience (Red Seal is an asset)
  • Strong Baking Skills
  • Flexibility to work weekends, weekdays and additional hours as requested and as possible
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills for dealing with prospective families, current parents, students, faculty and all members of the community.
  • Possess a cultural awareness and sensitivity to diversity of student and staff backgrounds
  • A current Vulnerable Sector check.
  • Food Handlers Certificate
  • Standard First aid 2-day course
  • WHIMS training

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and oversee hot and cold food production during assigned shifts, ensuring quality presentation and portion control.
  • Supervise kitchen operations in the absence of the Food Services Manager, maintaining cleanliness and readiness for the next day.
  • Follow established menus and culinary techniques to meet dietary needs and ensure consistent food quality.
  • Collaborate with the Manager to review recipes, production plans, and presentation standards.
  • Maintain compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations; hold current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and report any defects or safety concerns.
  • Complete required documentation, including meal counts and production records.
  • Assist with food prep for future meals and special events as needed.
  • Support cost control through accurate portioning and efficient use of ingredients.
  • Provide accurate product information to staff and customers; seek guidance from the Manager when needed.
  • Contribute to a clean, safe, and team-oriented work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the goals of the Food Services Department
