Youth Habilitation Quinte Inc. (Youthab) requires a Residential Counsellor for its Transition Home Program in Belleville. This is a full-time permanent position (72 hours bi-weekly) commencing as soon as possible.

Who We Are
Youthab is a community based non-profit organization established in 1984 with services designed around 3 pillars – housing, mental health, and employment. We support, connect, and empower people to obtain and maintain safe and affordable housing, good mental health, and employment facilitating their transition to independence. Our programs operate under the names of Youthab, Career Edge, and Next Step Housing Connection.

Who You Are

As a Residential Counsellor, you are a compassionate, dependable person with strong communication and crisis management skills to support young adults ages 16–24 in a residential setting. You have experience working with children and youth, preferably with a diploma in a relevant field, and are comfortable working various shifts, including midnight shifts and holidays. You’re skilled in supportive counselling, client supervision, and safety monitoring, and bring a solid understanding of computer systems and documentation. You respond calmly under pressure, work well independently and as a part of a team, and are committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

·         Client supervision

·         Behaviour management skills, crisis management and the ability to work closely with the Transition Home team.

Qualifications:

·         Preference will be given to an individual with a Community College Diploma in the Social Services field with a minimum of two years’ experience working with children and youth.

·         A valid driver’s licence and First Aid and CPR training and certification are required.
