SafeStart is a family-run workplace safety training company that was founded in 1975 as Electrolab Limited. We are leaders in Human Factors Management, with our primary mission being the reduction of preventable death and injury, both on and off the job. Accidental injuries and death are a worldwide epidemic. A preventable-injury-related death occurs every three minutes. Over the last 15 years, more than 2.5 million people have gone through the SafeStart training program. Who You Are
At SafeStart, the Shipping & Receiving Clerk helps ensure the smooth and efficient flow of our shipping operations, thereby providing an excellent customer experience. We’re currently seeking a detail-oriented professional to join us in our mission. The best fit is someone with a solid understanding of logistics processes. They will be comfortable with physical picking and packing of materials while also managing paperwork and administrative tasks. With a knack to optimize efficiency, our Shipping & Receiving Clerk will be counted on to ensure shipments are completed accurately and on time.
The Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible to process ordered materials, both inbound and outbound, in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner.
The successful candidate may also want to invest in a cape since we measure our success by the number of lives saved—it’s very empowering.
A Day in the Life of a Shipping & Receiving Clerk
- Prepare shipping documents, including customs forms, in compliance with applicable regulations
- Picking, packing, and preparing materials for shipping
- Prepare and maintain accurate shipping records, including bills of lading, shipping logs, and other required documentation
- Collaborate with customs brokers and other authorities to facilitate smooth customs clearance for international shipments
- Maintain accurate inventory supply records
- Perform data entry into various software and spreadsheets and generate reports
- General office administration duties
Need to Haves
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Capability to frequently lift and carry up to 50lbs
- Ability to use a pallet jack
- Aptitude to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Fast typing, with an eye for accuracy
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, and online forms
- Ability to maintain confidential information
Nice to Haves
- College diploma
- Experience with Sage 300 or Salesforce
- Intermediate understanding of current shipping regulations, trade compliance, and customs requirements
