We are seeking a student to help with our summer programming and reading club from June 29, 2026 to August 22, 2026. This position will be 35 hours per week and may involve working one evening per week and occasional Saturday shifts, as well as at our Frankford Branch.
Duties:
- Assist in the delivery of fun, interesting, and educational activities for children of various ages
- Facilitate the summer reading club for children and youth, including registration, promotion, and interaction with readers in a meaningful manner
- Represent the library at community events in order to promote summer programming
- Assist with general library duties such as shelf reading, weeding, tidying, and digitization
Required:
- Creative and artistic with ability to assist in planning, preparation and delivery of highly engaging programs
- Ability to work well with others, as well as ability to self-motivate and work independently
- Strong time management skills, flexibility, and ability to work with short deadlines
- Customer service skills and ability to speak to an audience
- Valid Driver’s License and access to a vehicle
- Vulnerable Sector Police Check
Preferred:
- Experience working with children and on a career path involving working in a library and/or with children
- Comfortable with science and technology based programming
- Comfortable with Google Suites
Eligibility: Please note that applicants must be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident or have refugee status in Canada. Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada and have a valid Social Insurance Number. This position is open to applicants between 15 and 30 years of age and must be enrolled in full time or part time education during the previous year and be returning to full time studies in the coming academic year. Applicants must be willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment and will not have another Canada Summer Jobs funded job.
